Battle of Camperdown

SKU: camperdown
October, 11, 1797 marked one of the hardest fought battles of the Anglo-Dutch wars.  The Dutch Fleet under Vice Admiral De Winter was intercepted five miles off the village of Camperdown by Admiral Duncan’s North Sea Fleet.  Both sides suffered heavy casualties.  This battle resulted in an overwhelming British victory, the Dutch losing no less than eleven ships.
