Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990 resulted in the formation of an incredible coalition force from various Western and Middle East countries. Their goal was the liberation of Kuwait, one of the smallest countries in the Middle East. In 1991, after numerous attempts to induce a peaceful Iraqi departure from the area, the allies launched a concentrated aerial assault on Saddam Hussein’s Forces, inflicting severe damage on Iraqi units and infrastructure. This was followed up by ground assault lasting 100 hrs. The Iraqi Army was basically annihilated in what Hussein’s propaganda department labeled as “The Mother of All Battles”.
