The use of helicopters in wartime became widespread during the Korean War.  This very versatile aircraft became indispensable in the transport of casualties from the combat zones to rear area medical facilities.  During the Vietnam War, the survival rate of the injured was raised dramatically through rapid pickup and transport often while under heavy enemy fire.  The courage and dedication of these medevac crews has been recognized by all as attested to by the fact that they are among the most highly decorated units which were engaged in Southeast Asia.  They continue their courageous work today in many of the world’s trouble spots.  God bless them.
